A wood console table is a living room piece. Put it in the kitchen and it becomes a sideboard that looks like furniture, not equipment. In this one the fruit moves up onto the wall in wire baskets, so the top of the console stays free for a mixer, a speaker and one pitcher of greens. Here is the corner piece by piece — six that earned a place, and one that did not.

It lost for one reason: a metal or butcher block cart looks like equipment, and this corner sits where it can be seen from the rest of the home. A wood console with turned legs looks like furniture that happens to hold a mixer. The trade is no wheels, and a wood top that needs a tray under anything wet.
